Art
My art is an extension of my family, both physically and spiritually as the materials I use are recycled from my family's machine shop in Texas. All art pieces are threads of truth which shine through our differences. My goal is to express the myriad messages and feelings identified when one's core is filled with joy, acceptance and love for others. My art is a representation of Divine love, compassion and growth without anger or hate. My themes result from the spirituality I incorporate into my life and that I see in others.
I feel some of the materials I use actually selected me. I was visiting with my brother while he was working and looked down to see the most beautiful cast-offs in his work area. They practically jumped out at me and I knew they were to be used for something beautiful to share with others. I originally began using metallic acrylics as a background on canvas to go with the metal chips, but as I continued, I started incorporating other colors as well as mixing the colors. When I began utilizing acrylics more, I found the paintbrush just did not work for me and using my hands worked better. I asked an established artist for advice and how I could work with the paintbrush. She threw her arms in the air and said, "Just use your hands!" So, I continue to do so! That was the most inspiring and encouraging advice anyone could give.
My art pieces only come to fruition with the support and the encouragement of the people around me. These pieces have been life lessons of rejecting the inner critic regardless of how challenging this may be. I am attempting to push myself to grow with each piece both as an artist and spiritually. These works allow me to share my love with others. All artists are messengers and I am thankful to channel the creative energy which flows through me with feelings of hope and compassion. I believe we must be fearless with our talents and confident that the message of each piece will be received by those for whom the message is intended.
